I have a 15-3 2in snub round butt and a 28-2 NYSP stamped revolvers just wondering ball park prices.

28-2 is a New York state police gun and they added the orange front sight has target trigger and hammer not sure if that’s common on this model or not. It has some aftermarket wood stocks and some pachy presentation grips

15-3 is a 2in round butt model 15 havent been able to find lots of info on the 2in round butts. Has a pair of uncle mike square butt grips and the Hogues in the picture.

Not real up to snuff on my Model 15 knowledge, but I have some experience with the 28.

The NYSP models came with red ramp and white outline sights.

That isn't a target hammer, but from the side it does appear that yours may have had a target trigger added after the fact. I'll include a photo of one of my Smiths with a target hammer so you can compare/contrast spur length (27-2...closest I can get to yours).

Factory stocks will increase value, were probably magnas, but some 28s came with factory targets.

Prices have been all over the place. A year ago there was a rush on revolvers, and everything jumped 20-30%. It is starting to come back now. Yours in 2019 would have been worth somewhere in the $550-600 mark on Gunbroker (local areas can vary wildly). Today, you might fetch $600? $700 maybe on a private sale if you put the correct stocks on it. Again, locality will dictate a lot on what they're worth. We probably pay %15 less here in OK than they do in states like CA, NY etc...

Not sure if its had work done or not but the SA pull is light to say the least, and i love the recessed cylinder.

My bet with a target trigger added is that someone put the time in to lighten it too. Hopefully they did it correctly, you can always check push off by cocking the gun and trying to push the hammer back down with your thumb. If you can get it to fall...time for some work and a hefty reduction in $$$ if you sell it as is.

The 28-2 has no push off at all. I didn’t realize the target hammers were 1/2in wide this one is wide but not that wide.

There were three main widths: .265", .375" (probably yours), and .500" on blued examples.

Triggers ran .265 "service", .312 "combat", and .400 (stainless usually) and .500 "target". Widths did change throughout the years with different models.

Pretty sure .265 triggers and .375 hammers were standard on the 28s.

Having a bit of a Smith collection, I know enough to be dangerous, but am not an expert.

My own 28-2:
