I say to each their own. Some people can handle it and some can't. I find that the ones who can't end up wrapped around a pole at some point. But I don't drink in public at all especially if I am driving, not that I couldn't but I am cheap and paying for an overpriced drink just isn't in the books. The last time I did drink in public was in Vegas 8 or 9 years ago while hopping from casino to casino. The wife and I would sit down play a little get a drink give the waitress a tip, maybe get a second and then head to the next casino. It was amazing how long we were able to stretch 40 bucks. At home I could care less as long as someone doesn't get stupid drunk and hurt someone or themselves. A beer or two or a glass of wine or the equivalent, fine. Beyond that take it off and chill. If someone does happen to try something you can always grab something and defend if needed and I doubt the cops will say a thing about it. In public and a good shoot they would probably say the same thing and not even mention it but you run the risk or catching the one guy who will be a stickler.
