If you have a lathe, there are milling attachments that can be bought. I have two lathes, one is a dedicated mill.
I will say a true mill is much more accurate and useful though. The milling attachment on the South Bend is only for rough work, not precision.

Me too.
I built a forge a month ago on a whim. I don't have a clue on how to start but I beat some cheap steel into the very rough shape of a knife today as a practice thing to see what happened.
3/4" Drill stem steel. I don't have a clue what quality steel that is. Above 1018 I'm sure.
Play around with the grinder and the belt sander tomorrow. Didn't take any pics today. I'll post pics of the forge in another post as I've found that keeping photos on my phone won't work in adding to a post generated from the computer. Tapatalk issue using the phone is why.
