If you want a serious range finder you can look at the Sig Kilo 2400abs or the Terrapin. They are both very accurate.

For under $500 the Sig Kilo 2200 is accurate as well (+/- 1 yard). Just depends on if you want the Applied Ballistics calculator included with the range finder. For general usage, the Kilo 2200 can't be beat. Some use the Bushnell arc 1600 but it's more money than the Sig and not as good in my opinion.

I use a large Peen Level Wind with 600 yards of 50 lb power pro braid with a loop tied every 100 yards.
Then I mark the shooting path every 100 yards with a string or a ribbon.

But a digital range finder would be really nice.
I bet it was fun shooting 700 yards.

But how did you mark off the initial 100 yards?

Just kidding.

You know what sucks about the fishing reel.
The center spool is tiny and the reeling of the line back in takes forever and it is a lot of walking ..and slow walking until you get to 400 yards.

Ya know... I was scrolling through the OSA feed and when I noticed Swampratt had commented, I knew it would be good!
