Whats it doing or not doing?
Timing on a colt is not the same as a smith & wesson
A smith locks when hammer is cocked.
A colt doesn't final lock until hammer is cocked and trigger is pulled.

Quite so. Hold the trigger to the rear and it should lock the cylinder up tight with no play at all. Older Colts have a tendency to seem to not lock up when the hammer is cocked but this is normal.
