My dad snored terribly. He wasnt overweight just a really tall and big dude. His sleep apnea didnt kill him, heart disease did. I snore. I bet my brothers and sisters snore too. My wife not so much. But my snoring wasnt the problem with us. I like to turn the heat up in the house and then I kick the covers off and I sleep good. My wife has to sleep with a window open a few inches and then a fan blowing on her on highspeed with like 5 blankets piled on top of her with just her face sticking out- no matter how cold outside it is. I have my own bedroom at both houses. A musician friend of mine was in his mid 30s and had gotten slightly overweight but wasnt what I would call fat or obese. I got a call from his girlfriend late one late that he was dead. Really freaked me out him being so young. Turned out later that he died from sleep apnea. He didnt have health insurance so he couldnt have afforded a sleep study anyways. I have done the sleep study and like everyone I know who has been there was diagnosed with sleep apnea and sent home with the machine. I think its a helluva racket theyve got going on there but the thing actually does work even though it aint easy to get used to. I dont take it with me when out on the road working and I sleep just fine but I think I sleep better with it. If you have health insurance take the sleep study. Only one night out of your life and it could save your life.
