All, I need to find a staking tool for the feed latch on my 1100. I can't find one for sale anywhere on the net. Does anyone have one that I could buy, use or even rent? I'm NE of Tulsa.
No sir, no grinding here. Just good old-fashioned wear and tear. There was a tool for this exact application but I can't find it anywhere. I'm not sure that the 1911 tool will get the job done as it's not deep enough to get all the way in the receiver.Did you grind the dimples or something?
Generally the dimple is just on the bottom and is there to hold in place while assembling and disassembling.
It held in the gun by the trigger guard and trigger guard pin at the rear and the arm of the feed latch fitting between the rec. and magtube at the front.
We always popped it out top edge first to remove, then put back in bottom edge first lining up the dimples in rec, & feed latch and snapping it back in at the top edge.
I may have a tool around somewhere (I'll look) but never had the need for it unless someone removed the dimples.
If someone has a set of 1911 plunger tube staking pliers they work best. Just put a piece of leather on the outside so you don't scratch the finish.
Thanks SPD. I actually just fixed the issue with a nail set and careful hammering. Hopefully it lasts!
