Remington 870 or Mossberg 590?

I personally hate the safety behind the trigger. Thats only because I grew up on a Winchester and those are in the front. They are both fantastic guns.

Like GTG stated, I too have had both and I really don't know if there is that much difference between the two brands other than the safety.

Of the two 870's I had owned, one was a Wingmaster and one was a Police. No issues with either.

My Mossberg 590A1 has the three-dot sights which does help with accuracy. I have added the S&J extension to give it 7+1. Good gun too.

After having owned two 870's, two 500's and a 590 my choice is Benelli M2.

Yep. There's a reason why you don't see 3 gunners with ghost ring sights.

i've got the magpul 870. has a peep sight. i like that. one of these days i'll run across a wingmaster bolt and all will be well

870 for sure. I've had 870, 500 and 590 and prefer almost everything of the 870 over the Mossberg's. The only thing I preferred on the Mossy over the 870 was the safety location. You can load through tube and combat load much more effectively. It's also MUCH MUCH easier to fix a malf on an 870 then it is a 500/590. Take down and repairs are much easier on the 870.

And if you're wondering, I prefer the rifle sights on an 870. Anything from 200 yards in with rifle sights and slugs is very easy on a body size target.
