Rescued a Henry 45-70 single shot rifle

after emailing Henry I confirmed the following

the rifle was manufactured Jan 2020

and the recall was performed and verified by the dimple on the inside of the trigger guard

Now do I scope it, or replace the buck horn rear sight with a peep sight?

I have a scope here at the house, Leupold VX freedom 1.5-4 x 20 not sure how well suited it would be for this rifle

.45-70 deer report:

500 grain cast over 65 grains of Goex FFg=big hole going in, big hole going out.

250 grain Flextip=big hole going in, bigger hole going out.

I would believe so, because the black powder loads are really low pressure.

You could always call Henry to comfirm!

Henry would not confirm or deny the ability to fire black powder loaded ammo thru this rifle.
