I have heard it was the other way around, the Lancaster wasn't ready and needed to be heavily modified. Haven't we seen released photos of the bombs being loaded on the B29s. Me thinks someone's trying to rewrite history.

I could be wrong but I think the Lancaster was a backup plan just in case.

at the Albuquerque nuclear science museum they have a B-29 and B-47, and B-52 out back. Those are some big girls.

FYI, Commemorative Air Force will be in Duncan in September......... FiFi and a B-24, plus a few others........ going for a ride in the B-24. 4 days of lookie-loo.
