Saw Doc fly over Keystone Dam while flood waters on the weekend the river crested. Disaster tourism? morbid curiousity?? No but Geographic/ geologic fascination!

Awesome story getting the old bird back into the air.
Coincidentally I watched a documentary last night about a unit that flew the PBY Flying Boats to rescue the B-29 pilots among others off the coast of Japan after they had completed their bombing runs. Flak damage and so on.
They mentioned that the B-29 had a design flaw that allowed the engines to overheat, causing several crashes because of engine failure.
Great documentary about pilots that flew to save lives vs those tasked with taking lives.

Pic from an airshow at Tinker a few years back, complete with my “old ride” climbing out in the background. Gives me goosebumps every time I look at it...
