I have sanded them with 400 grit wet sand then hit it with 800 then 1000 and then 1500-2000 grit and then buff with a terry cloth and this.

I do the same when enlarging a die to fit a certain size case.

Have never ever tried this. I am going to try. We are looking for another CRV, this one has 150k on it, been a good one and still runs as it always has.

Do you use water on all the grits as you go up?

You’ll get a cleaner cut and your sandpaper will last better if you do. You can also go up to 3000 grit in steps if you want to go that far. Then hit them with the compound and glaze.

Yes I do use water and add a few drops of Dawn or other soft soap.
This keeps the sandpaper from loading up as easily.

I keep a towel pushed in below the headlights to keep the solution off my painted surfaces.
I just don't want to wipe any grit off my paint ya know.
