I had a couple of pistols stolen in November of 2003 in Amarillo, Insurance co paid me for the loss, 9 years later I get a call one day from an Amarillo detective saying he recovered my COLT Gov. model .380 in a stolen car, he shipped it to me but he said it had to go to a police station even though I was an FFL at the time ? Anyways I had them ship it to Catoosa since I knew a couple of those officers from my lodge and got it back minus the mag, He said they don’t ship those ??? And about every six months I get a call from Amarillo asking me if the Sig has been found by me and they reassure me they are still on the lookout for it, that’s been going on since 2013 !
On another note I had 2 stolen when a f@“$&/) thief stole my work van at Osage casino about a year and a half ago, The ATF called the gunshop where I had my FFL and was doing a trace on a recovered gun ! Mine !! I called around and Tulsa county property guy said yes they had it, about 30 minutes later he called back and said it was a mistake that the serial number was wrong ??? WTF ? They claim they don’t have it now but I know they did have but I know better, peppery officer said “ a lot of guns have the same serial numbers” maybe we called ATF with a different gun with same serial # ?

We lived south of Houston
Wif was in Dallas and had her Suburban stolen. My M60 was in the Suburban.

Reported the guns, along with Suburban.

Got a call, 2 weeks later, hood rat had robbed a 7-11, was catch carrying my gun

DA would be in contact, AFTER TRIAL, gun being held in evidence.

1 year later. I call. Still awaiting trial, on docket in 4 months.

5 months I call, trial finished. Contact Dallas PD. They gave no such weapon in evidence lock up.

Never returned.

I had a revolver stolen years ago; it was eventually seized by the Garvin County Sheriff's office, from a felon.

After the trial (and conviction) I went to Pauls Valley to retrieve it.

The Undersheriff told me flat out that he would not release the firearm, even after I showed proof of ownership (never get rid of receipts, ever).

A quick trip upstairs to the DA's office, a phone call from the ADA to the Undersheriff, I went back downstairs and fetched my revolver.

The aforementioned Undersheriff didn't say a word as he handed it to me, but he was certainly unhappy.

The prick.
Probably he wanted to keep it.
