Assuming that every guy working behind the counter at a big box store participates or specializes in what he sells is only setting yourself up for disappointment. Not every guy who works in building materials at Lowes is a carpenter or guy or works in produce at Wal Mart is a farmer. Im a plumber, and hold a masters license in 2 states and worked at a Lowes on nights and weekends a few years ago while my wife was going to school to become a realtor. I was a dream to those people. But the only one in the whole store that actually had mastered any trade, much less in the department I worked in. You want expertise and specialists, go to a store that specializes in hunting and shooting sports. That being said I am simply playing devils advocate. I could care less where you shop or dont shop. In fact I dont buy any guns at a big box store. Im ok with paying a slightly higher price for the knowledge, expertise and service I get at local or online gun stores. I havent even been into Bass Pro since the counter guy treated me like a gang banging thug for inquiring about a big bad scary "black" gun that they wont sell, because in his words "they only specialize in hunting." I asked what they hunt with the Glocks they sell and walked out and havent been back. Just my 2 cents..
