I moved away from the HKS speed loaders to safariland for two big reasons. The HKS didn't hold the rounds stable without wiggling and you had to turn the little knurled knob to release them. The Safariland held the rounds tight and you could just smack it and they would be forced into the chambers with the reloader falling away. The Safariland would also straddle the belt and be much slimmer to wear.
Interesting read. I only have a couple revolvers, one being a .44 Mag Ruger Super Redhawk I'm taking to grizz country later this year to carry in the back country.
I noticed the same with the HKS speed loader allowing the rounds to wiggle a lot. If the situation develops where I need to reload, I'm sure I'll be doing a lot of the wiggling as well and don't need the extra effort to load and twist.
I learned something tonight about speed loaders. Safari Land here I come!
