Steve had good prices, was a Blue Label Glock dealer and was on the North Side of Waterloo so 5.25% Sales Tax. I bought from him for about 4 years total. Started off decent place, recommended most women go there too. His wife was super nice and very relaxed around new women shooters/gun owners. Last couple of years, the CS went to hell.

You got the feeling he was burnt out. I know during the manufactured pandemic, the phone never stopped ringing when I was in there. He was pretty pissy with people. I gave up on the negativity every time I went in.

I feel bad about going in there with my grouchy 2 year old that needed a nap. I went outside to deal with the kid and let my wife just speak to Steve about pistols and he taught her a lot.

Went back the next day and she bought a 43x. Hopefully that made up for my screaming kid.

Bought a couple of guns there and a couple of transfers although $30 per was a bit steep. Nice enough guy and always treated me right. More than I can say for Big Boys range or gun store. Sorry to see him go.

I did a lot of business with Steve as he was close to where I live and had good prices and you could talk to him and he always treated me great when I shopped there.

The large cheeks often referred to as my tail are in some desperate need of some attention and i don't want a sword used. Which one of you two will be overseeing the attention my tail is in need of. I'll need some verification of education before either of you hold a laser up to my tail feathers though.

I think there's a no-man's land for small businesses that a LOT of us find ourselves in. Big enough that it get's hard to do it all, but too small to be able to afford all the 'infrastructure' you need. I always half chuckle at the 'be your own boss' tag line. Yeah, doesn't feel that way very often.

the "be your own boss" is great.

the "be your own floor sweeper" not so much.
the "be your own accounting and collections" even worse.

i absolutely HATE calling on huge companies around here for what they consider to be chump change but it makes literally a world of difference to me. i've had many of the women i've talked to (not saying anything, just saying it's always women) ask me "ARE YOU THE ONLY EMPLOYEE?!?!" and it's like "yeah that's the whole point lol" when i call to ask them if they can manage to write a check or even use the DIRECT PDF LINK I SENT THEM TO PAY WITH ONE CLICK OMG HOW HARD IS THAT WHY DON'T THEY JUST PAY I DON'T GET IT.
