For my Marlin 45 Colt lever, I think because of the tubular magazine, it’s recommended to roll crimp at least on cast bullets, but I’ve seen nothing about JHP bullets. I’m loading Nosler JHPs with a cannelure, should I roll them or maybe just a light taper?

Your dies are made to apply one type of crimp only. For 45 Colt, it's a roll crimp. For the rimless autoloading cartridges, it's usually a taper crimp.
The 45 Colt is a great cartridge. I only load cast bullets in mine, jacketed bullets just cost too much for target shooting.
