Thanks for input about the coating. Would ATF give you hardtime if the coating almost cover the Logo and the serial number on the registered lower? Almost cover means very hard to read the serial number but may be able to make it out the number. Any opinion or comment is appreciated.

Sounds like they got a little over zealous with the media blaster prior to the coating, and maybe a little heavy on the color as well. As long as all the numbers are legible, you should have no issue.

Is it legal to engrave the existing serial number to increase the depth to increase the contrast so that the number can be seen better? Or just better to stay away from buying this RR to avoid future possible trouble. Who know 20 years later, ATF is controlled by gun grabber from Californian progressive party ? lol

I would not mess with the existing serial number. If it is readible, I wouldn't worry about it.

As for an ATF "controlled by a gun grabber from Californian progressive party", what makes you think he will care how clear your markings are. He will want to take your MG (and probably your semi-auto too) no matter how clear the serial number is.
