I’m kind of hung up here. I have what amounts to a fairly rare handgun and can’t make up my mind on whether to sell it or not. Odds of me ever shooting it are somewhere between not likely and hell no. I have others in the caliber I do shoot. It’s a Ruger Redhawk .357 mag with a 7 1/2” barrel, six shot. While digging and unsuccessfully finding a value for it I did learn they only made them for two years. First time I saw it as a youngster it kind of cracked me up. Ya have this honking cylinder with itty bitty holes in it. If you were a manic handloader you could probably find out at what point cartridge brass vaporizes without damaging the firearm. It’s never been loaded but I don’t know if I can find the box for it. So, should I keep it or let someone else have at it? I have found something else I would replace it with. If anyone can give me an idea what it’s worth I’d appreciate it. There’s not enough out there about it to make a fair guestimation. I really can only have so many “My Precious’s” before I get accused of hoarding.

42nd edition Gun Trader's Guide says worth about: NIB $620; Exc $450, Good $270
It looks like that is stainless? if so: NIB $789, Exc $499, Good $300

They don't show different barrel lengths, so I assume it doesn't matter.

Not sure if that is pre-pandemic prices or not but it seems like you should be able to get at least $450, probably more like $500 to $600 especially if you can find the box, or maybe more if it's stainless and you can find the box.

In my experience though, if you're having trouble deciding whether to sell it or keep it.... keep it. You can always change your mind and sell it later, but you can't change your mind and un-sell it.

Well, I knuckled under to curiosity and actually spent some of my stash of Confederate money. I was rather surprised at what I found. I’m probably going to put a listing over in the classified section. Anyone that might be interested, I’ll use the same header to make it easier to find.
