What started out as a standard 7 1/2" barreled 44 magnum, has been transformed into a "Ruger Supreme Hunter II"...

Here is a list of specs on this new build:

The factory double action trigger pull was 24 lbs. and now, it is 10 lbs. 2 oz...

The factory single action pull was 8 1/2 lbs. and now, it is 2 lbs. 14 oz...

The factory barrel to cylinger gap was .011 and now, it is .0025...

Factory barrel length was 7 1/2" and now, it has an effective barrel length of 10" and 12" overall with the muzzle brake...

Using Winchester factory ammo, muzzle velocity with the factory barrel was 1,119 fps. and with the new barrel, the same load chronographs at 1,377 fps...

Any questions, just ask!

I have a 7 1/2" Super Redhawk. Killed a few deer with it at fairly close range.

I see a compensator on yours. I'm more familiar with a muzzle brake that limits recoil and muzzle rise.
What would a compensator accomplish over a brake?

Dennis,

that is a muzzle brake on this pistol and not a compensator. Felt recoil is at least 1/2 of what it was before with the 7 1/2" factory barrel...

If you want a brake on your barrel, let me know and I'll take care of it for you....

I am appalled!

Such awful work.

You can see the seam between the brake and the barrel.

Hehe... just in case it wasn't obvious, I'm kidding. That's a sweet gun, and yes, that's the jealousy speaking!

I'm glad at least some of you guys like this Ruger - thanks for the compliments...

With a scoped revolver like this, out to 125 yds., you don't give up anything to a rifle. Yes, you can kill a deer a lot further than that with it, but that's gonna take a good rest and a steady hand...

I have several customers in Texas, that routinely shoot javelina out to and in excess of 200 yds. with guns like this, as well as the single action version in a Super Blackhawk. My heavy barreled 454 Casulls in a Super Redhawk make will make shots out to 300 yds. quite regularly. I can no longer shoot a revolver well enough to stretch the distance because of Arthur Itis, but it sure is fun to watch these other guys shoot....

D&T, there is an old thread on this page that surfaces from time to time of shooting a 1 gallon jug @ 150 yards with a handgun; it is a thread of speculations, as to my knowledge no one has done it yet. You've got the gun to do it. Please, do it and post pics! I know that you can. That is one fine revolver you have, sir!

"A thread of speculation"? Guys don't think you can hit a gallon jug full of water at 150 yds.?!?!?!

Let me shut the shop down and go see what I can do. Hit or miss, good or bad, I'll post my results later this evening....
