Nothing to report in Stephens County yet. Bucks still in bachelor groups as of this weekend.
Judging by camera activity, bachelor groups appear to have broken up in Alfalfa county. However, bucks and does are still eating together at feeders.
Im not seeing bucks together in central Oklahoma any longer. Have had trail cam pictures of 2.5 year olds with tongues out following doe. Also have seen some young deer trailing a hot scent.
I’d say it’s starting up in Atoka County.
I watched smaller bucks chasing last weekend and a decent 8 yesterday evening.
There’s a couple doe with yearlings that hang around the house and I’ve seen the yearlings split up looking lost lately.
And a 6 point, head to the ground, about to cross the highway into Wal Mart parking lot.
Had a fork separate two does and run one of them around. He eventually ran her out of sight and they never came back. Left the other doe there and she ate for another 10 minutes.
Good chasing going on Saturday, north central and northwest. That was observations from myself and 4 others last weekend.
Last weekend there was no rut activity to speak of. Saw 5 deer, 2 being bucks and none were on a mission. Seems to kick off later at my lease than it did at Thunderbird.
My son had a doe come busting out into the clearing at 5:20. Tall 9 came out a minute or two later. He stayed out around 50 yards. No shot. He’s off yesterday, today and Friday. I’ve been hunting in the evening with him. Movement has been great.
Yep, movement has been great. I see a new dead one on Hefner road every morning.
