S&W 442 or 642-2? Which do you prefer and why?

I have saw the black on the 4xx series smiths wear off rather easily from a holster.

And I know someone with a silver airweight that has a skeckled finish from some sweat.

My vote is for the stainless 640.

Even the stainless metal will wear off in certain areas in time.

Maybe if you can stand pocket carry, the finish will last!

This is mine after 3-4 years of carry daily. Just a little finish wear on the high spots on the front of the frame.

I also have had both, and like others, my only complaint was the finish on the 642, but that was not really a big deal. I don’t put them on display.
One of my daughters has a 442 that was my carry for awhile. I damaged my hand, and the shape of the grip is no longer doable for me, but other than that, I would be happy with either. But I do prefer the older ones.

Owned both over the years, I like the black finish better. If you get the 442 put down a base layer of white nail polish on the front sight serrations, let dry over night then a coat or two of Neon Orange and that front sight will be easy to find.
