[QUOTE="Pokem807, post: 2949163, member: 7378"] Well, I decided to go another direction. On a whim, I stopped by my local pawn shop/LGS to see what he had and maybe fondle a J-frame. As I walked up, he asked me what I was looking for and I said ".38 special revolver that holds 6 shots". We talked for a moment about how that narrowed down my options, and then he told me to hang out while he grabbed something from the back. A minute later he walked back out holding a revolver which he hadn't gotten around to putting on display this morning. I almost cringed when he handed it to me, since it was a 1977 Colt Detective Special in pristine condition. I almost cringed because I knew how sick I was going to be when he told me the price. Trying to maintain some semblance of a poker face, I looked it over for a few minutes. Aside from what I think are not original grips, this thing is gorgeous...no holster wear, no dings and just a couple of barely discernible scratches. Doesn't look like it was ever carried, and I'd be amazed if it's had more than 50 rounds fired through it. I handed it back and asked what he was going to ask for it. He said $500, but since I've made several purchases and transfers with him he knocked the price down to $425 + tax. I got so excited that I handed him my credit card when he asked for my driver's license. It's been quite some time since I've been this tickled with a gun, and not just because I think I got a pretty good deal. Those old Colt revolvers are a work of art. I'll try to post some pics later.
