The 686 is a bigger, heavier L frame and will be stainless steel, and as mentioned the plus is 7 rounds. The 19 is the slightly smaller K frame and will be blued steel. Based on what I could find on current production, there's only a few ounces difference but I'm not sure my info is apples-apples If you plan to shoot it a lot, especially with .357 magnum loads, the 686 will probably hold up better over time. Stainless Steel will also be a little more forgiving of the elements, and the extra round may or may not be a factor to you. Does one of them give you a little more tingle when you handle it? It really comes down to which you like better, or maybe which is the better deal. Or, as they say about your preference of Ginger vs. Mary Anne.... why not both?? :rollingla P.S. I'm not a pro, so there's that....
