Actually, those are I frames or more commonly called hand ejectors, because they were the first of the swing out cylinder revolvers.

My 32 is a J-frame. It was made in the early '70s and the I-frame was discontinued in 1966.

The old I frames remind me of a miniature K frame with their larger trigger guard and half moon front sight blade.

I have a S&W 360PD Scandium frame five shot .357 I used to carry as a back-up. If a .357 JHP doesn’t kill them, the fireball will roast their bodies and they‘ll be in shock from the concussion followed by deafness.

When I first got this gun I took it to the range and ran a box of 50 factory 147 grain JHP through it. My arm was still sore from the recoil three days later.

In my opinion, the fact that S&W would even chamber an airweight in 357 speaks to Smith’s confidence in the frame durability.
