I would check with S&W and see what they say. There are many revolvers out there that can handle plus P but, not a steady diet of it. Why take a chance with a classic old gun.

+I have shot several thousand rounds in a K-38 during PPC comp and practice. It will not handle a steady diet of +p ammo. Practice with standard and carry +p
Think of It like a Model 19 that will not take a steady diet of .357. If I wanted a K frame S&W for + plus P it would be a Model 19 with its better metal hardening. But even then either gun will have to be rebuilt after 5 or 6 thousand rounds.
