I'd be curious to see the quality of the build these days. Even their touted 442 and 432 UC isn't a shining example of quality. I've never had a problem with the lock on my 340 from Magnum rounds down to bunny fart 38 reloads.

Ok, I got to thinking recently about this announcement. Knowing that collectors and shooters alike have shunned lock version guns and seek non-lock models/variants.
So, will this further decrease the value of S&W that have the lock when selling? Or, would you be willing to pay the same amount for a lock gun vs non-lock? Or would you only accept with a large discount if it has the lock?

I think it’s going to come down to which models have locks vs without. So far it’s only a handful but if they make the entire run lock free I’d bet the lock models will drop in value. Good if you’re looking for a nice shooter. Bad if you been collecting them as investments. I personally don’t like the lock but I have a 686 plus that has been flawless and a great shooter. But I’ve had it for close to 15 years now. I’m not sure of current QC. And I don’t generally buy guns as an investment. I tend to buy the same ones over and over it seems.
