I don't think the new 66's have a two piece barrel, and the ones I've seen still have the flat cut on the forcing cone. If its got a two piece barrel then they did one hell of a job making it to where you can't tell its a two piece. Then again this was a 66-6 I was looking at. You can tell that they take no pride in the way these new guns look before they leave the factory.

66-6
Look at the gap/height of frame to barrel

FWIW, the gun pictured in my avatar is a MOdel 65. It is essentially the same thing as the M-66 but it has fixed sights. Mine has been around the block a few times, but it has one of the smoothest DA trigger pulls I have ever seen.

Besides my new to me 66-4, I still have my two 66-2's with 2.5" barrel's. I bought one for myself an the other for my son. I still like to think that the 2.5" 66 is one of the best CCW revolvers out there. As long as you don't try to wear them out with constant use of .357 magnum ammo, and run mostly .38+P in them for defensive work I think you'll find a very good revolver that will out last your lifetime and probably those you pass them on to!!
