Savage Axis ll precision in 308 or 30-06

I have had great luck with the 30-06 guns I have owned. 165-168 bullets. IMR 4064 did everything I needed. Mauser bolt gun with match heavy barrel and M1 Garand

To me the 308 is more forgiven than the 06. So I choose 308. Speed is a death issue if you know your dope and is field confirm.
