Thought some of you would like to see this.
Here is my current collection of 1940s era Savage rifles.

From left to right:
Savage 5 (1946-1948), Springfield 84C (1940-1948), Springfield 87A (1946-1948), Springfield 87 (Pre-WW2 1940-1942), Wards Westernfield 87-SB87-TA (1951), Stevens 87A (1949), Savage 6A (1950)
and not pictured is another Springfield 87A (1946-1948).

The 6A on the far right is a Walnut stock.

I am still searching for a Savage 7/Stevens 85/Springfield 85 and a Savage 3/Stevens 83/Springfield 83 to complete the collection.

The stock on that far right one is pretty superb, that factory?

As far I know it is. Of course who knows what may have happened in the 60+ years before it came to me. It is a correct stock in that the Savage branded ones were frequently Walnut stocks. The one on the far left may be Walnut as well, I just haven't had a chance to pull the buttplate and check.

I really admire your collection, and have always been a fan of the 87A. The .22 mentioned in my childhood stories I have shared on OSA is my 87A from my Grandpa, and it would have many tales to tell.

If my memory serves me correctly, that blonde one second from the far right was in a thread you did some time back...refinishing it...right? But dang man, regardless, that is a very nice bunch of rifles you have there.

I also did extensive refinishing to the redhead (3rd from the right):
