Scope issue

Actually .....Amazon sent me a 2nd scope and between the 16 pieces that make up 4 rings I was able to assemble 2 that centered the scope perfectly. It was waaaaaay bad.

Not doubting you as this is my first scoped gun but why would Simmons make rings that are "way too high"? This scope sells in the 100's and has very good reviews by mostly 10/22 owners. I really do respect your answer.

Most of the time the closer you can keep your scope to your barrel the better off you are. As close to the same plane as possible.
