Sorry for the lax updates, but we've been hit and miss with all the heat and end of school year stuff (I'm starting to dislike May as much as December!). Installed a new door Monday evening, got some more insulation up and ran to Ace this morning and picked up 50 sheets of sheetrock...load of fun right there!

Are you replacing the windows as well? Perfect time is now while the walls are down. Depending on the sizes you should be able to get a decent off the shelf vinyl window for around $150 each. Cut off the nailing fin, use as a replacement window.

Any other updates like electrical or plumbing? I know go read the thread LOL.

Watch the auctions around your area, the may have building supplies you need. Also sometimes Habitat For Humanity has something you may need. Cut your costs!

If you still haven't sheet rocked, now is the time to wire in cameras and an alarm system!!! I can give you pointers if you want after 20 years of doing it.

Thanks for the tips all! @1shott, the windows are not very old, and are all vinyl replacements from around 10-12 years ago. Also, about 90% of the wiring got replaced, and no plumbing work yet (water is still off).

@John6185, I've been using Ace rewards coupons, as well as shopping for used/sale items plenty; we actually drove to Burkburnett, TX a couple weekends ago and bought a lightly used garage door for $500, vs $2k+ for a new one!

@Snattlerake, thankfully our area is still fairly crime free enough we probably won't drop the money for an alarm system/cameras. If my folks want something like a Ring doorbell, we might do that. My dad got told by his doctor the other day that he probably has the early stages of Parkinson's, so the Ring bell might be handy later...
