shipping a revolver to be repaired/refinished

I purchased a revolver as a box of parts from a guy that had started to do a refinish. I am going to send it to Ford's to have it refinished. Can I send it directly or do I have to find someone with an FFL to send it for me?

An FFL holder can mail it via the post office. Non-licensed individuals may use Fed-EX or UPS, but not USPS as mentioned above.
