I wouldn't dare to OWN something with so much liability. But I did WORK on base in the gun part of the bx for a while in college, you can go there if you're qualified and you genuinely want to see "perfection in action." Everything on display gets locked up every night in a vault as big as a garage and all 1000+ guns are hand counted. We wouldn't sell to anyone asking the wrong questions or giving the wrong answers to our questions, we took pride in our work and felt it was a big responsibility, particularly after they allowed you to buy ammo and guns at the same time and didn't require an escort off base. Nobody wants to be the guy who sells a gun to someone crazy who does something horrible with it, and while there is no fool proof system, you can bet your ass I wouldn't sell anything to someone acting off. I engaged everyone in conversation and gauged their behavior. I'm not a medical professional and of course a sociopath could've breezed through that, but there wasn't one person I handed a gun to that I didn't know a little about. And again, maybe the kid behind the counter asked the right questions IF indeed this gun was rented, nobody knows right now. I grew up being told if you can't do something right, don't do it at all until you can. They did it right, this place hasn't. I don't even go to ranges anymore. Too many crazy people there, never know when someone might lose their head.
