I don't own a defensive / home protection shotgun, the only shotgun I now own is my 12 ga. Browning 'Humpback' A-5 that I've had since 78' and it's unloaded, cased and stuck back in the closet waiting patiently on it's next hunting trip.

If you can I'd get an aftermarket youth stock to shorten length of pull to around 12.5". Cylinder bore preferable but not really mandatory.

For HD have a mossy 88 with 18" barrel and a Fox DB also have a Rem 870 with a 30" to reach out and touch something with a 3 shot extension a Mossy 500 and a Mossy 500 410. All 12 ga except the 2 Mossy 500's 1 20ga and the 410.
Remington 870 pump, just ONE of the SEVERAL types of weapons in several rooms of the house. That and the F15 in the back yard, just in case.
