Wasn't the patent originally steyrs and SIG had to pay them off when Steyr sued them?
SIG is suing Glock over the design of the breechblock; Steyr sued SIG over the modular design. I can't find the disposition of the Steyr case, and Bloomberg doesn't cite any patent numbers, so I can't be sure, but it sounds like the patents cover different elements.

ETA: The only citation I could find in the Steyr case referenced a US patent held by Steyr; this case involves Austrian patents. Glock has petitioned the Austrian patent office to invalidate SIG's patent, which could scuttle the whole thing.
