sighting in a gun? 30 yards and trust or actually shoot at 100

Scope height will be a huge factor in where the round lands.
Even from 100-200 yards.
I was zero in 2 different AR15's with scopes mounted higher than regular rifles with dropped combs.

Zero at 100 put both guns 6+" high at 200 yards..I was like What is happening..I clicked the scopes down many clicks to bring the guns to 200 yard zero and they only dropped about 3/4" at 100..Yea left me scratching my head.

If you plan on shooting at game at a certain distance you need to practice on paper at those distances.
Your bullets may not even print a good enough pattern to even be usable at longer distances.

I also vote for true 100 yard. Just the confidence in knowing that your are good at 100 instead of probably good at 100 will improve your chances of hitting what you are shooting at.

I agree. I grew up with a grandpa telling me I better feel good about my gun. I'll pass that along.

I have been hunting heavy brush this season with my .308 with this new to me load I concocted.
I have only shot it at 25 and 50 and 100 yards.
I know where it hits at those distances and it is a 168A max with 42 gr of 4064.
My dope written on the side of my gun is for 44.1gr or 8208 XBR and 155 A max.

The dope I wrote down stated 1/2 Mil at 200 yards on 12 power. for the 155 gr.

I finally shot it at 200 yards with the new 168gr load and held 1/2 mil. Up and down was perfect and 2" to the left due to the winds today.
I feel good with that so far. For 200 yards and in anyway.
