Skin cancer.......get yourself checked yearly.

Just had 7 stitches taken out of my cheek eight days ago after having skin cancer removed and this morning (at 0800) I've got to have more removed on my upper lip which is about half way from the bottom of my lip to just below my nose......this is being done by a specialist that my regular dermatologist referred me to that is geared more towards reconstruction of the area after removal.

I'd be willing to bet I've had skin cancer surgically removed a minimum of 35 times so far so I'm no stranger to having it done.........I've had to have my nose cut on four times and three of those times it involved removing tissue from behind my ears to fill in the hole and one of those times I had to be IV sedated.

Where am I going with this ?

Because of my history with skin cancer I go every 90 days to see my dermatologist and he always finds spots to freeze or that need a biopsy but find yourself a good dermatologist and get looked over from head to toe at least once a year.........luckily all of mine have been basal cells thus far.

Good advice....I go every 6 months...on the last checkup I didn't have to have any burned off or removed.....YEA>>>!!!

When I was about 5 my grandpa had skin cancer bad enough that he lost three fingers on his right hand his index, middle and ring fingers because the cancer was that bad, also had some removed on his nose and face. Thankfully he was okay after that and he would go to the dermatologist every six months. I'm glad he was in my life until 2012.

Think I’ll rethink sun screen after this. I usually wear hats, long sleeves, etc, buy I hate sunscreen.

I've got a couple of those basil cancers on my forehead right now. Too many years of riding motorcycles with a pair of sunglasses on my head I guess. Sun screen wasn't a thing back then.

I had some suspicious moles removed from my back by the VA. All were benign. Thank you, Lord!

Had a basal cell carcinoma removed from my cheek a couple of months ago.
Seems to be a rite of passage into senior citizenship.

Lost my dad to melanoma. Most people dont realize how bad it can be if undetected. Always use Sunscreen .

I see the VA dermatologist twice a year for some skin issues but never had any skin cancer develop. Lucky I guess as I get nut brown in the summer. Hate sunscreen. Makes me feel all clammy and hot.

I have had 4 removed, 1 big on top of an ear.
