I have noticed that I am seeing more and more small primer .45 acp, is this becoming the new norm of the industry or jusr certain companies and why. I am not complaining, just curious. The majority of my .45 is large primer but I would not be opposed to streamlining my brass towards small since all of my other handgun loads use small. I just don't want to start converting only to find out it was a passing fad.

I researched it all over the net and found one reply from a manufacturer i think federal.
They stated there was less pressure spikes from the small primer...
But who knows...
I do know i tested many rounds of each over a chrony ..all loads were in my 45acp and 200gr lee cast bullet from
same batch lubed and crimped the same...CCI primers...
The small primers had much less spread in velocity than the large primer..
Less than 1/2 the spread of the large...
BUT the groups shot were at 20 yards...and there was no difference in groups...
Stretch it's legs and i am sure it would show up ....

I emailed federal corp today and asked them this question.
We will see in a few days if i get an answer...
I do not know why you would need to change the size of a primer to make it non toxic.
That makes zero sense to me. Retool to make a different size pocket...hhhmmm.
