The biggest snow I can recall is the winter of 1980. We started on this snowman around 9am and finished it around sundown.

His hat is a galvanized trash can, his mustache is a coat hanger, his eyes are grapefruits.

I'm the handsome young lad on the left. I think I was around 12 years old.

Muskogee. I tried multiple spots but where we are flat and not obstructed it is right at 8”. There are places it is pushing 14” and on the leeward side of the big building it is less than 4”. Cows are going through the hay and the water.

Buddy south of me is over 9”.

Not sure exactly where in SE OK you're located but I've got PLENTY of oak trees down and stacked just need to be cut up if interested(cleared off some land for food plots). Our place is just outside of Weleetka and I should be down there possibly next weekend. Yeah, doesn't help you much now but could get you through the rest of the winter.

1983 was bad. I was home on leave at Christmas from the Navy. I had to catch a flight out of Tulsa(150 miles away). My parents drove me up there in a Volkswagen beetle in the snow. It was a bit crowded with 3 of us and my sea bag and dress uniforms bag.

It's cramped in a VW Beetle with just three people. 🤣

Hate to sound like a fuddy duddy, but when I was young school didn't close because of snow. Now, I'm watching the news this morning, and it seems every school in the state is closed and it hasn't even started snowing yet.
Dr. Larry Zenke is a name I despised when I was in elementary school.

If you are curious, he was the superintendent of the Tulsa Public Schools back in the 70/80s. He wouldn't cancel school for nothing and all the kids hated him for it. We would wake up all excited for school closures after a big snow and nope, we had to go. He did close some times but very rarely and only when it was crazy thick. We all told rumors that if he fell when picking up his paper in the morning, he cancelled school. If he didn't, school was on.

It is funny how I remember his name after all these decades. Haha!

A work buddy who lives out past mounds, had an appt this morning for pre-op blood work, and didn't wanna take a chance on the roads being unpassable, so he and his wife just stayed at the casino overnight. When she tried to go home this afternoon, the road before there's was completely blocked. A firetruck, an ambulance, and a wrecker all in the same ditch.

Neighbor says it still isn't clear, so now they gotta do a 2nd night at a hotel.
