You know when Creedence sings "There is a bad moon on the rise" but you hear "There is a bathroom on the right"? There is a term for that. It's called a mondegreen.
Apparently whilst listening to a song about an earl being killed, "They have slain the Earl of Moray and laid him on the green", somebody thought two people had been killed because they heard "They have slain the Earl of Moray and Lady Mondegreen" hence the term "mondegreen".

(I don't usually say whilst and hence but there was an earl mentioned and I thought it might all tie together somehow.)

Anyhow, I ran across this whilst reading "View From The Porch" and thought it was interesting - hence my sharing with all y'all.
