Dry grass left in the feild that cattle graze on is mostly just a filler/fiber you always have to feed something else with it if you want to keep the cattle fat and especially if they are breed or nursing a young calf so that both have a good healthy winter, fat cattle can withstand the cold better than a skinny poor cow.Reminds me of a question about livestock feeding on dormant, yellow, brown grass during winter months, do they get any nutrition from it?
