Back in the day watches were issued to some military, mostly officers with radium on the hands and numbers so they could be observed at night without a flashlight. A little flip lid was on the watch to keep it covered.The military issued Benrus, Bulova and probably many others during the sixties but I heard that they issued Rolex watches to Pararescue troops but don't know if that is really true or not. I've never seen a PJ wearing a Rolex, they wore the same as I was issued.
