Speeding ticket question

Plead No contest and send it with the check..

I've never understood the difference in a no-contest, and just signing the ticket. Yeah, your pleading guilty, but isn't a no contest saying the same?
I don't know the technicalities of the wording, so I'm just asking.

No contest is basically only worthwhile if you have a potential to be sued in a civil case. Otherwise it's worthless. So if while speeding you hit a car you would want to plead no contest so that it's harder for a civil suit to be brought up since you didn't admit guilt. The reason to plead no contest instead of not guilty is often times you can get a charged dropped down to something lesser and therefore spend less time in the clink and or have lower fines vs the potential to be found guilty and then also have the civil case already have a finding of guilty over you.

Another note on the OP is that not paying the ticket can also end up with your license suspended even though you don't live in the other state they still work together and will honor another states suspension.

So basically unless you intend to fight it, pay the fine and move on. If you get points go take a driving class to have the points removed. Then remember to set the cruise control so you don't get another one due to lead foot not paying attention syndrome.
