Would my decision to fire be protected by this excerpt?
That should have been the question

Your decision to fire is never going to be guaranteed to be 100% protected. Even a self defense case will be reviewed by a DA and then it will be up to the DA to decide if they want to try and press charges or not.

What you have to understand is that by shooting someone (even in self defense) a crime has been committed. An acceptable exemption to the crime is self defense. Think of it like this, it is illegal to openly carry a loaded handgun in Oklahoma. The exemption to the law is if you have been issued an Oklahoma handgun license.
