For what it’s worth, I’ve called three places and can’t get either AR500 or AR 550 locally. They have to order it in from out of state.

I’d imagine that under the wise management of Dear Leader, all the high wear industries are limping their capital equipment along so that it’s in top form when it gets re-owned. That’s just me talking out my butt and looking at L’histoire.

If I hear of anything different I’ll get back with y’all.

Not local, But I have 2 sets of these in 1/2" and they seem to be holding up great. Maybe not the highest quality out there, but they seem to be more than decent for the price. I've hit them with .22lr, 12G slugs, .222/5.56, 762x39, and 762x54R (non-steel core) at 50 yards and only get the slightest pits from the faster and larger calibers.

I've damaged the chains more than the targets.

They sure have some swinging deals there on Amazon. Not sure I could even get in the zip code on price once I donate my time and consumables. It just chaps my rear end to give Bezos a nickel though.

I can buy the targets cheaper than I can buy AR500 plate. I cut a few swinging targets for a gun range several years ago for their 9mm and under range and used A36 per their request. As far as I know they still use them.

For a 4x8 it’s THREE DOLLARS AND SEVENTY FIVE CENTS PER POUND!? But then a 12”x12” costs $13.88 a pound!? I know steel has gone up, but I didn’t realize it’s now a precious metal.

making full size 300wm rated ISPC 18x30 targets my cost would be $500 each, before shipping, labor, and taxes. Looks like I’m gonna hold off on making targets. Jeez.

If you are going to cut your own, you really need to keep it as cool as possible when you cut it, meaning water cooled at least. From experience, plasma cutting a piece of AR500 without proper cooling will change the hardness of the metal, leaving the areas that got hot much softer.

So don't ruin a bunch of AR500 with a plasma cutter.

It's not OKC local ,but is an Oklie company doing Steel targets in Broken Arrow down by the Tractor Supply ,I don't have their card as I get my steel from " Shoot-n-steel " who seems to have a better price across the broad .
