Haha.... apologize for the dindu nuffins all you like... doubt you'll change any minds.
Never had a gun stolen from my vehicle, but sure had a bunch of them stolen from my home.
Who's fault is that?
The thief’s fault.
Out in our farming community all of the neighbors left their keys in their vehicles in case a neighbor broke down and had to borrow transportation. It was just a thing we all did. You cannot do that now. I see people on that nextdoor app complaining about kids coming around at night ransacking vehicles. Well dammit, don't leave the door unlocked.
That's the same answer I would give if one is stolen from my locked vehicle.
I have had to do exactly that. Battery failed one evening deer hunting. Tractor in the field still had the keys in it, so drove it back to the truck for a jump and drove it back to it's exact spot in the field. Nobody does that now. Everything is locked up.
Or, even an unlocked vehicle.
My truck always has at least 3 guns in it: a J-frame in the door, a Glock in a battle belt somewhere, and a rifle under the back seat with a go-bag. When I get in the truck the count goes up by one Glock for a total of 4. Depending on who else rides the count can go up again. If you intend to steal 'em, I suggest - for your sake - you do it when I'm not in the truck. If it gets sketchy we pass 'em out like gum and God help whoever attempts to enter the cab. I might even know of a couple of fellers who carry ear muffs in case it looks like it might get loud. God, guns, and guts, made - and keep - this country great.
I'll continue to keep guns in the truck like the good Lord intended.
I definitely keep ear muffs in the center consol. Nothing says your ready for action than putting them on inside the vehicle.
Fortunately, never had to but they are there when/if the time comes.
With your past occupation and your retirement range and competition, I'm so proud that you still have hearing to protect lol
