I absolutely hate lawyers and think they’re the root cause of most of the problems in the world today, but in this case, I’d call the meanest, nastiest junkyard dawg lawyer I could find and sue the ever lovin’ sh*t out of the deadbeat.
In the immortal words of Dave Ramsey - "Pick a lawyer you don't even like."
That would be all of them.
Oh man, hate to hear this and hope you're not hurt too bad. I've been spooked on riding alone on the road since that Vegas video with the 2 punks deliberately hitting the rider. At least you have witnesses and plates.
Problem is if the guy/girl was a deadbeat, then there's nothing to sue them for. And people who hit and run often do it because they are deadbeat idiots who don't know any better.

I'd let the insurance companies duke it out first. If you get a lawyer, you’re going to have to pay the lawyer, and if the hit and run driver is as much of a deadbeat as it sound like, you’re not going to get enough out of them to make it worth the trouble.
As an attorney I know once told me, getting a judgment is pretty easy. Collecting on it is something else entirely.
Bicycle should be covered under homeowners or renters. However I would call your auto insurance due to it being a car that hit you.
