I have a scout and plan on purchasing one of these: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/620345/smith-enterprise-m14-5-8-24-thread-adaptor-m14-m1a-matte And installing a 51T AAC FH to attach my 762SD suppressor. However, I will also need to purchase one of these to make it cycle properly: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/699378/schuster-m1a-adjustable-gas-plug-steel-parkerized I've been back and forth on suppressing the M1a. It's already a little heavy as it is and I'm betting it will be as loud as my AK suppressed because of all the moving parts, if not louder. Of course, someone could use sub sonics, but I think you would have to play around with it to get it to function properly. You'll run into a few issues, since the socom uses a completely different FH mounting system then the standard and scout M1A's. Also, what thread pattern is your suppressor? I'm assuming its 5/8x24.
