Swapping gas blocks

So, Friday night I mount my 300 blk in a vise with the appropriate vise block. Attempt to remove flash hider, and the entire barrel starts rotating. Weird, right? I first thought the indexing pin sheared, barrel only has about 100 rounds through it. Once I get the hand guard and barrel nut off, the indexing pin is fine, however the barrel is unscrewing from the barrel extension. Has anybody else ever experienced this? I took it to a gunsmith and he thinks it just wasn’t torqued correctly and can be saved. Looking into an alternative barrel just in case. Any 8.5” barrel suggestions?

I don’t remember. I bought it from Cold Hand Arms about a year and a half ago

Is the barrel and extension Nitrided? Unfortunately a few companies will Salt Bath Nitride the barrels with the extension installed on the barrel which can cause that.

I like Bear Creek for an inexpensive good barrel.

I have a 8.5" CMMG hat gives me good results.
